The Crown Inn at Marnhull featured in Thomas Hardy’s famous novel ‘Tess of the D’Urbervilles’ as  ‘The Pure Drop Inn’  and retains many of its original features and character throughout, with inglenook fireplace, original wooden beams and even a priest hole (where catholic priests hid during the 16th century reformation period).
